The M45 Land Warrior gas mask was originally designed for helicopter pilots. (As I was informed) When special forces units got a look at the M45 mask they wanted to get their hands on them for testing immediately, it wasn't long before the M45 became part of the M45 Land Warrior project and standard mask for special forces. The US Military M40-A1 Gas Mask includes the improved C2A1 chemical-biological filter, an extra outer layer skin, quick doff hood, and a C2 canister that protects the user from up to 15 nerve, choking, and blister agent attacks, and 2 blood agent attacks.
